Why did you start playing soccer?I started playing soccer when I was 5, in 2005

Why did you want to play soccer? I was originally just trying out all different sports, so I didn’t know I wanted to play soccer right away.

After playing one season in the Little World Cup, I was hooked and dropped all the other sports I was playing to focus on soccer.

Why made you want to play soccer in college? I play soccer now because I worked for my whole life to play in college, and since I reached that goal, I want to show what I have worked so long for. Also, playing on a college team represents more than just a sport. I have a new family and get to play my favorite sport with my best friends and family everyday. We have a true brotherhood and being able to put on a jersey with my best friends motivates me to continue.

Coolest experience playing soccer: I’ve had so many cool experiences playing soccer, like qualifying for a national championship with my club team in Indianapolis and traveling to several different southern states for tournaments. I’d say my coolest/proudest moment was playing in one of the nation’s top club tournaments in Maryland, where I was scouted by some D1 schools such as Yale and UAlbany.

Fun fact: I have travelled to play soccer in 11 different states

Other info: played Little World Cup, in-town, and travel up until U12, then played for CFC Samba until 2014, then played regional at AC Connecticut for 4 years during high school.

When did you start playing soccer? When I was years old.

Why did you want to play soccer? I wanted to play soccer because my older sister played. I loved going to her games and watching her play. It always looked like so much fun to me so I started playing and fell in love with the game.

Why do you play soccer now? I play soccer now because there’s nothing else in the world that makes me feel as confident, strong, and happy as this game does. Whenever I am stressed or feeling down, playing soccer always cheers me  back up or calms me down.

Coolest Experience Playing Soccer: Soccer has brought me to many new amd interesting places but my coolest experience was traveling to Italy to play in an international tournament. In Italy, we got to play against teams from Finland and Italy  and I got to meet people from all over the world. I even got to train with the Italian National Team coaches.

Fun Fact: I have been a goalkeeper since I was 8 years old and never have changed positions. Something about being in goal gives me so much confidence. I feel like I am unstoppable.

Other Information: Soccer has been and always will be a part of my life. I love playing but throughout my years I have also enjoyed coaching and helping train the younger generation of soccer players. I am looking forward to training these younger players during this camp and can not wait to have fun and spread my knowledge to improve the trainees’ game.

Nick Cancellero

My name is Nicholas Cancellaro. I am a center attacking midfielder at Nichols College. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old, mainly because my brother and cousins played. Soccer still brings me the same joy as it did when I first started playing. The love of the game and my competitiveness is what keeps me motivated to play. My coolest experience playing soccer was going to Ireland, Wales, and England and playing two friendlies in the summer of 2019. We played St. Kevin's Boys FC in Dublin, winning 2-0, and played Tranmere Rovers FC in Liverpool, losing 2-4. I graduated from Watertown High School in 2017 and earned NVL Top Senior, First-Team All-State, and All-NVL honors. A fun fact about me is that I only got one yellow card throughout my whole career and it was supposed to be for a teammate who looked like me after he fouled multiple times.

Age when starting soccer: As soon as I realized dancing was not for me.

Why did I start: Although originally bribed with ice cream from Teddy, I saw how much fun the rest of my friends were having playing soccer, and I wanted in.
